Demona Reed is the founder and director of Reed Music Studio in Saginaw, Michigan. After earning her Bachelors of Music Education at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1980, Demona came back to her hometown, Saginaw, to establish the Aldridge/ Reed Music Studio with her mother, the late Mrs. Eugene Aldridge. Her niece, Jacqueline Glenn-Jackson later joined the team to also teach and train students in piano, vocal scholastics, and music theory.
Together they worked to develop and train musicians throughout the tri-city area. Later naming the studio, the Reed Music Studio, Demona has taught music for over 30 years in the Saginaw Public Schools.
As a composer, music director, producer, and author, Demona has released several projects such as, the When I Grow Up Sing – A- Long Series for children consisting of a 19 song CD & DVD. Her YouTube channel consist of her classic videos, which have been a big hit with thousands of viewers. She has authored the “Humble Pie” which offers direction on learning humility in ministry and life. Her book can be purchased through www.barnesnoble.com.
Demona has recently released 2 singles with her musician husband, Glenn Reed, called “Ooh Savior, Savior” and “Don’t Let the Devil Ride.” Crediting her family for her musical and spiritual roots, she joined forces with her siblings to create the Family Affair CD and the Rev. William D. Aldridge with the Family Affair Group. Demona has also written music for the 2009 children’s play, “Obama”, which was performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Terrace Theater in Washington D.C. for the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama.
Throughout her career and ministry, Demona, has served not only as an ordained minister but, as a minister of music for The New Christ Community Church and the Bethel A.M.E. Church. She is also a member of the National Educators Association, Michigan Education Association, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa - Gamma Kappa Chapter, Top Ladies of Distinction, NAACP, the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and BMI Publishing.
Her musical and leadership experience has led her across the nation teaching music departments, conducting workshops and seminars such as the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, where she served as the youth director of music.
Under the tutelage of Demona Reed, countless students have performed professionally nationally and internationally as recording artists, musicians, composers, and producers. Others have received scholarships from major art & musical programs, art councils, have auditioned for national competitions, movies, commercials, plays, and have pursued many other opportunities in the field of music. Demona Reed has made it her mission to share her love of music to the masses by making sure her students are prepared and knowledgeable of their art and craft.
